Platinum Solutions sponsors guest lecturer at November's meeting of the Northern Virginia Java Users Group (NOVAJUG). The presentation entitled "Putting the Pieces Together" - Leveraging Multiple Frameworks and the best of Open Source projects for Web application development, was given by Mike Nash, President/Founder of JGlobal Ltd. Nearly 100 members of the NOVAJUG turned out for the highly informative and well-received lecture.

Platinum Solutions completes the first version of the Law Enforcement & Intelligence Agency Linguist Access System (LEILA) in conjunction with partner SAIC. LEILA was designed under the guidance of the FBI Language Services Section. LEILA provides a Web interface to a comprehensive database of language specialists, including detailed information about language skills and experience. LEILA is accessed by the FBI, DEA, INS, and other agencies associated with law enforcement and intelligence.

Platinum Solutions delivers version 3.0 of the Systematic Entomology Laboratory Identification System, known as SELIS. The SELIS application was developed by Platinum Solutions in collaboration with the Systematic Entomology Laboratory (SEL), Agricultural Resarch Service, USDA. SELIS is a private Web application for reporting of identifications of insect and mite samples submitted to SEL. About 2/3 of the samples submitted are collected at United States ports of entry by inspectors of the USDA, Animal and Plant Inspection Service (APHIS). SELIS 3 automates the exchange of data with the APHIS PIN (Port Identification Network) 309 database. Accurate and timely identification of these samples is of vital importance to US agriculture and the environment. The SELIS application was designed to process large amounts of data while maintaining a fast response time.


April 26, 2002

Platinum Solutions completes version II of the the Automated Incident Reporting System (AIRS) system for the FBI Bomb Data Center (BDC), in conjunction with partner SAIC. The AIRS application is an online repository of bombing-related criminal incidents recorded by the FBI, state, and local law enforcement. The AIRS System records specific information on bombing incidents and bomb squad activities. The AIRS application is available nationwide via the Law Enforcement Online (LEO) network.

Platinum Solutions launches a redesigned company Website with a new client portal that includes discussion forums, project resources, issue tracking, and more. The new Web site compliments Platinum Solutions' development methodology, which involves continuous iterations and constant customer feedback. The new Website was designed by Exit1, Inc. of Reston, Virginia.

Platinum Solutions completes the Hostage and Barricade (HOBAS) system for the FBI in conjunction with partner SAIC. The HOBAS online application provides the FBI's Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU) with a centralized repository for hostage and barricade incident data and resolution outcomes. HOBAS provides data collection functions, search capabilities, and statistical analytics. The HOBAS Web application is made available to law enforcement agencies throughout the country via the Law Enforcement Online (LEO) secured network.


December 1, 2001

Platinum Solutions begins an ongoing contract with Verizon to provide developer support for Verizon's use of the Expresso Web application framework, including best-of-breed open source technologies such as the Apache Jakarta Struts framework, the Apache Log4J logging library, and the Apache Xerces XML parser.
