2006 Announcements

November 27, 2006

Platinum Solutions, Inc. was awarded a contract from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to support DARRTS II, which is designed to provide enhancements to the current DARRTS (Document Archiving, Reporting and Regulatory Tracking System) program also developed by Platinum Solutions.

The DARRTS system is a component-based, multi-tier enterprise application that is accessed via a web-based interface. The system runs within the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) intranet network and is only available to authorized users. DARRTS provides FDA CDER users with the ability to receive, manage, track, and report on drug applications (Form 1571). DARRTS delivers major advancements regarding flexibility, integration, and meeting CDER's business requirements.

Chief Executive Officer Laila Rossi said, "As a company, we are excited about continuing to work with the FDA on this important program. Winning this contract is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our DARRTS project team. Release after release the team has exceeded the client's expectations and set the foundation for a long-term relationship with the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research � Office of Information Technology (CDER-OIT)."

In addition to this new contract, the FDA commissioner's Honor Award was presented to all FDA CDER-OIT staff that worked on the DARRTS system. The DARRTS project manager acknowledged that the support of the Platinum Solutions team enabled the CDER-OIT group to stand out from many successful organizations within the FDA. The DARRTS team received an award in the Group Recognition category. The Group Recognition Honor Award is intended to recognize groups for achievements that warrant honorary recognition by the FDA.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner's Honor Award was presented to all FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research-Office of Information Technology (CDER-OIT) staff that worked on Document Archiving, Reporting, and Regulatory Tracking System (DARRTS). At the weekly meeting, the DARRTS project manager acknowledged that the support of the Platinum Solutions team enabled the CDER-OIT group to stand out from many successful organizations within the FDA

The DARRTS team received an award in the Group Recognition category. The Group Recognition Honor Award is intended to recognize groups for achievements that warrant honorary recognition by the FDA. The documented criteria for this category are:

  1. Exceptional, outstanding leadership that contributed to the successful accomplishment of the FDA's mission or redirection of the FDA's objectives.
  2. Exceptional performance which brought tribute to the FDA, the Department, or the Federal Government.
  3. Significant and exceptional performance of a single, one-time achievement or service benefiting the public or resulting in major advances in an FDA program.
  4. Sustained superior performance of duties that sets an unusual record of achievement warranting special recognition or Superior performance of a special act or service in the public interest related to employment that far exceeds normal position requirements.

Washington Technology magazine ranked Platinum Solutions #10 in 2006 as the fastest-growing small company in the Government Information Technology industry. Platinum Solutions reported a compound annual growth rate of 116%. Washington Technology�s annual list spotlights companies based on their rate of growth over the past four years. In 2005, Platinum Solutions placed 18th on the list and was awarded 1st place for Systems Integration.

Platinum Solutions, Inc. opened a new office in the Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads area to The Hampton Roads office staff currently supports projects for the Naval Safety Center and plans to increase their business development efforts with the Center and with other Department of Defense clients in the rapidly expanding area.

Platinum Solutions is proud to support the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Cryptanalysis and Racketeering Records Unit (CRRU). The FBI CRRU recently assisted with the apprehension of Joseph P. Smith for the abduction and murder of Carlie Brucia. The FBI Laboratory is on of the largest and most comprehensive forensic laboratories in the world providing forensic and technical services to law enforcement agencies.

Platinum Solutions awarded the U.S. Marshal Service (USMS) contract for the "M-WISE" project to develop a Workforce Information Exchange System

The USMS is faced with a challenging task of integrating several legacy systems into a new system that will enable USMS to access agency workforce information through a single entry point. In order to achieve this, we will address the following challenges: 1) migration of data, 2) migration of applications, such as Lotus Notes and MS Access, 3) integration of disparate systems, 4) creation of a new interface for authorized users to access the integrated personnel information, 5) development of a secure, single sign-on solution using LDAP, 6) development of a system that can overcome network bandwidth issues, 7) provision of an audit capability of all events within the system, 8) development of standard reports containing up-to-date workforce information for individual divisions/districts, and 9) development of new workflow to support the integration of Applicant and Background Investigation (BI) processes.

Inc. magazine's "500" issue ranks Platinum Solutions as 61st among America's 500 fastest-growing private companies and 3rd in the software-industry category.

The 2006 Inc. 500 list measures revenue growth from 2002 through 2005. To qualify, companies had to be U.S.-based, privately held and independent - not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies - as of December 31, 2005, and have at least $600,000 in net sales in the base year.

Platinum Solutions is awarded a contract to write an application that detects the use of codewords or concealment in seemingly innocent "covertext." For example, by using predetermined codewords, the true message could be something very different than the covertext.

Platinum Solutions Employees Form a New Java Users Group in Southeastern Virginia

Platinum Solutions Senior Consultants Matt Harrah and Mike McKinney recently formed the Southeast Virginia Java Users Group (SEVAJUG). SEVAJUG serves Java enthusiasts of Hampton Roads (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, and surrounding areas of Tidewater). Their mission is to educate the general public (and themselves) about the Java programming language and its related technologies through lectures, discussions, forums, newsletters, Internet postings, and other appropriate means.

The first meeting of SEVAJUG is scheduled for Friday, August 15th. Matt is presenting on static code analysis and Mike is presenting on scripting from within Java. Platinum Solutions Highlighted in Federal Computer Week - Small Company Shows How to Win Business

The recent announcement that retired Air Force Gen. John Jumper had joined Platinum Solutions' board of advisers was a high-profile event for the company. Like many firms founded and managed by young business leaders, Platinum Solutions has been trying to get its name more widely known in the government market.

The company has had some successes. It counts the FBI, the Food and Drug Administration and the National Virtual Translation Center as customers. With 50 employees and six years in business, the firm hopes more growth is yet to come.

Platinum Solutions Names Former Chief Of Staff Gen. John P. Jumper to Advisory Board

Platinum Solutions Inc., a fast-growing, award-winning systems integrator serving the U.S. government, has named retired U.S. Air Force and former Chief of Staff Gen. John P. Jumper to its Board of Advisors.
